"Sure." Hadley reached out and took it. But before she could bring it to her mouth, she winced and placed a hand on her stomach.

"What's wrong?" Elissa didn't need to see her face to know something was wrong -her hearing had become extremely sensitive ever since she lost her eyesight. "Are you feeling unwell?"

"I'm not sure," Hadley admitted with a frown. Her stomach felt a little strange. Kind of like right before a period, but not quite. Just... odd.

She stood up slowly and said, "I think I need to use the bathroom."

"Okay." Elissa followed Hadley and carefully felt her way behind her.

Hadley was pregnant. Even the smallest issue couldn't be ignored.

Inside the bathroom, Hadley froze, and her face drained of color.

"What?" Elissa felt a jolt run through her, but she held firm and squeezed Hadley's hand. "Don't panic. We're going to the hospital. Right now. I'm coming with you."

"Okay!" Hadley nodded quickly. This wasn't something she could ignore. Not for a second.

Elissa went with Hadley straight to the hospital in a taxi.
