Chapter 12
Well no reason to keep this useless secret from him now, was there?
I turned to Edward and smirked. “You already know this now? God. Breaking news! Maddison and Miles are my siblings by
blood. Different moms, that’s all.”
“B–But she’s only two years your junior!” Edward cried out in disbelief.
“Oh, you noticed? Good. My prolific fuc–I mean, ‘father‘ had started his affair when I was just a one–year–old. Or maybe he
started earlier. He did all he could to make my mom divorce him so he could marry the shameless homewrecker.”
Edward’s shocked gaze flitted between Harry and Cameron
“You’ve never told me anything about that,” he muttered, look of seeming guilt shadowing his face.
“Now, why would I tell anyone about my family’s most shameful secret? Besides, I thought you were smart enough to deduce it
on your own!” I replied scornfully.
Was our shared blood type not enough of a giveaway? Dumbass.
He said nothing, so I added, “Now you understand why I’ve been so against helping her, don’t you?”
I thought the truth would make him reconsider his stance. I hoped he’d realize just how deep Maddison’s lies ran and how much
she owed me.
Unfortunately, I was too optimistic. All it did was help him find new, ridiculous rationalizations. “Maddie didn’t do anything wrong!
Her illness has nothing to do with this!
I was tongue–tied. It took me a while to gather my thoughts. “She’s been trying to take everything that’s mine since she became
part of the Jones family. I had to give them everything and still got bullied and tormented for my effort!
“What do you mean she’s done ‘nothing‘ wrong?! Even if you don’t believe that, you’ve seen her rob me of my fiancé, wedding,
and hand–sewn bridal gown!
“Nothing wrong? Are you serious?!”
“Those are neither here nor there!” Edward snapped.
I stared at him. It had never occurred to me just how ugly he actually was deep inside.
I gave up and turned around, ready to leave.
He suddenly grabbed hold of me.
“Let go!” I snapped.
He looked up and showed me a despondent face.
He always put on that face whenever we argued, and in the past, it was all it took for me to cave. He was banking on it again this
time.
“Just treat all of this as my fault instead of hers, okay? I’m the one who’s been wronging you. I’m sorry,” he said.
“But I also know you’re the kindest woman on this planet. Right now, a woman named Maddison Jones is battling for her life. To
make matters even more personal–she’s your blood–related sister. Mom said that, right?
“Will you please save a life?” he pleaded.

Chapter 12
Mom?
So Cameron was already “Mom” to him? He sure was quick on the uptake or flattery. 1
A thought formed in my mind, and I softened my attitude. “Well, it depends on how sincerely you guys are asking for my help.”
“What do you need?” he asked immediately. “We’ll do it for you.”
I turned to Harry. “You told me my mom’s shares are mine after the wedding. Please hand the necessary documents to my
lawyer right now.”
Harry was furious. “You turned the wedding into a fiasco and humiliated me in public! And now you have the gall to ask for
those?!”
I turned away.
“Fine! You can have that bitch’s shares! Happy?!” Cameron cried out.
Harry was about to correct her when she roared at him preemptively, “Don’t you dare, Harry! Is our daughter’s life worth less
than your stupid business shares?!
“If she doesn’t survive today, you’ll never know peace!”
He fell silent quickly.
Now it was Edward’s turn. I made sure I upped the ante. “Donating my blood poses a risk to my health, too. I’m sure I’m entitled
to some compensation.”
He nodded. “Name your price.”
“137k per 100ml.”
Cameron began, “You greedy ass bit—”
“You got a deal,” Edward interjected before she could finish His love for her was genuine, after all.
We signed an agreement right then and there. They were to fulfill their end of the bargain as soon as daybreak.
I watched them breathe a sigh of relief as they exchanged a glance, as though happy to have found their sacrificial lamb.
Cameron hurriedly took me to see the nurse.
I smiled and asked innocently, “Oh, right! Is it okay to donate my blood if I took sleeping pills just hours ago?”
