Chapter 833
Chapter 833:
Hadley's heart gave a soft flutter. Her lips parted. "Yes... I did." But before she could say more, his hand gently tilted her chin upward, and his lips captured hers in a kiss, silencing the rest of her words.
That night, snow fell quietly over Srixby, veiling the city in white. Inside the bedroom, Eric held Hadley close, their bodies entwined beneath the warmth of the covers.
In that moment, nothing else existed-only the stillness and the silence between them. Before dawn, Eric stirred.
Carefully, he lifted the blanket and slipped into the dressing room without a sound.
When he returned, he was met with a quiet surprise-Hadley was already awake, sitting on the edge of the bed, wrapped in a soft cashmere shawl. Her hair was loosely gathered, her expression calm, almost thoughtful.
Eric blinked, a little caught off guard. "Did I wake you?"
Hadley shook her head gently. "No, no. I woke up just a while ago."
She stood, her voice quieter this time. "Are you leaving now?"
"Yeah," Eric replied, glancing at his watch. "I've got a flight at seven."
Hadley checked the clock on the wall. "What about breakfast? Aren't you eating here?"
Eric shook his head. “I'll grab something at the airport." He then reached for her hand, fingers intertwining with hers. "Since you're up... will you see me off?”
Hadley nodded without hesitation. "Of course." She had woken up with that very intention. "Let's go." She gave his hand a soft squeeze. Hand in hand, they walked downstairs. At the door, Hadley paused as Eric slipped on his shoes.
Then he straightened, pulling her into his arms and resting his forehead gently against hers. "What is it today?" he murmured with a soft smile. "Don't want me to go?"
Hadley said nothing, but to Eric, her silence spoke volumes-she didn't deny it. Record of real release @ galnovels com
"Silly girl," he whispered, brushing her cheek with the back of his fingers. "I'll be back in two weeks at the latest. I'll call you every day, alright? Take care of yourself. Don't make me worry."
"I won't," she said with a small smile, and then lightly pushed him back. “It's time -you should go."
"Alright." He let go of her hand reluctantly. "I'm off, then. I'll see you when I get back."
He turned, opened the door, and stepped out into the cold. With one last wave, he said, "Go back inside you'll catch a cold."
As the door shut behind him, the silence rushed in. Hadley stood still, her vision blurring almost instantly.
Her lips parted, a whisper barely audible. "Goodbye, Eric." Deep down, she knew this was goodbye forever.
