Owen could not help but sneer. “Were you really the one who saved me back then?”
Alice was stunned. She avoided his gaze and looked a little guilty. “Of course, I saved you.
“Why don’t I call Ivan now and ask?”
Alice bit her lip and immediately understood that Owen already knew the truth back then.
Sirens wailed outside.
Two minutes later, the police rushed in.
The leader was Luca.
Owen frowned slightly and looked at Richard.
Richard scratched his head. “I contacted Mr. Hicks.”

“Mr. Calhoun, it’s been hard on you. We’ve been trying to catch this person for a long time, but we didn’t expect you to catch him.
You’ve done a great job this time. When I go back and tell the bureau, I’ll definitely give you the Best Citizen Award.
Luca stepped forward and grabbed Owen’s hand with a smile. He lowered his voice and said, “Since you already have a
countermeasure, why are you still hiding it from me?”
Owen pursed his lips. “If the matter is exposed, it will affect you.”
“What? You’ve done a meritorious deed,” Luca said.
Owen glanced at him and lowered his head to smile.
Luca glanced at his subordinates. “Take this person away.” A few police officers put handcuffs on the human trafficker.
Luca walked up to Alice. “Miss Gibbs, although I know you’re very weak now, you have to come with us to take a statement.”

Alice suddenly grabbed Luca crazily and said with a ferocious expression, “Catch Owen quickly. He’s the culprit. He was the one
who kidnapped me to this place. Capture him quickly!”
Luca raised his head and said expressionlessly, “Miss Gibbs, I–think you’ve been locked up for too long and have lost your mind.
Mr. Calhoun is clearly your savior.”
“No! No! He’s the culprit!” Alice shouted at the top of her lungs.
“Miss Gibbs is delirious. I’m afraid she’s mentally deranged. Why don’t we send him to the psychiatric department for a
checkup?” Owen said calmly.
Luca raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at him. He immediately understood what Owen meant and looked at the police
officers behind him. “Take Miss Gibbs away.”
Alice screamed as she was brought out.
Now that there were no outsiders around, Luca took out a cigarette from his pocket and lit it. “How’s your girlfriend?”
Owen looked down at the time. “It’s the third day today. If she can’t wake up tonight, there might be no chance of waking up.”
At this point, the atmosphere fell silent.

Owen took a deep breath. I’m going back to the hospital”
Luca looked at Owen and nodded.
The two of them walked out.
Owen had just reached the car when his phone rang.
It was a call from Nicolas. His voice trembled as he said, “Owen, come back quickly. Hailey has been pushed into the operating
theater again.”

Owen’s brain buzzed, and his phone fell to the ground.
“What happened?” Luca asked.
“Luca, you’re good at driving. Send me to the hospital. Hailey is in the operating theater” Owen’s expression was terse
He looked very rational, but only he knew that his limbs were weak and he could not drive at all.
Luca did not ask further and immediately got into the car.
Richard followed behind in Owen.
Luca had attended an ordinary university for two years, then went to the police academy. Up until now, Luca had not raced a car
for many years.
This time, he ignored all the rules. He sped, ran red lights, and did everything just to send his brother to the hospital as quickly as
possible.
Even so, it still took an hour.
Owen rushed to the entrance of the operating theater.
His forehead was drenched in cold sweat. He had lost all his poise. His eyes were bloodshot, and his hands were trembling.
Luca looked at him and sighed slightly. ‘Owen has really fallen for Hailey. If something happened to her, Owen would probably
be...
Luca didn’t dare to continue thinking about the consequences.
It was another long wait for the surgery.
The surgery this time was even longer than the previous one. There was even a change in the chief surgeon in between.
The surgery did not end until two in the morning.
The chief surgeon was sweating profusely, and his hands were still sticky with blood. He walked out and bowed deeply to
everyone. “I’m sorry. We tried our best.”
Owen was stunned for a moment as if he were in a dream.

He opened his mouth as if to say something, but when he opened his mouth, no words came out.
Owen stood there straight, his pupils dilated. His entire body was completely stiff, turning into a puppet.
The voices of questioning, crying, and breaking down gradually disappeared.
Thomas fainted on the spot.

Nicolas fell to the ground in disbelief.
No one dared to believe this result.
“Owen.”
“Owen!”
“Owen...”
Luca called out to him, and Owen’s tall and straight body collapsed.
The doctor lowered his eyes to hide his deep thoughts and left the operating theater.
Soon, the corpse was pushed out.
Owen did not faint, but his body was weak. He struggled to stand up from the ground and blocked the cart. His gaze was fixed
on the white cloth.
Impossible. He did not believe that Hailey would leave just like that.
Owen pursed his lips and raised his trembling hand to press down on the edge of the white cloth.

Then, Owen lifted the white cloth.
Under the white cloth was Hailey’s silent face.
She closed her eyes tightly. Her face was fair and quiet, as if she had fallen asleep.
The veins on Owen’s forehead were bulging. He gripped the edge of the cart tightly. His hand scratched something, and blood
fell to the ground bit by bit.
“Mr. Calhoun, please calm down. The dead are the most important.” The young nurse beside him came forward and tried to push
Owen away,
Owen waved his hand and looked at these people with a fierce and red gaze. He said word by word, “She’s not Hailey.”
Luca pulled him up. “Owen, no matter what, let the nurse send her to where she needs to go first.”
Owen stood up calmly and took a deep breath.
He said the same thing. “This isn’t Hailey.”
No one responded,
“Where’s the doctor just now?” Owen asked hoarsely.
“Owen, stop fooling around. The doctor has been in surgery for a few hours. He must have gone to rest,” Luca said with a frown.
Owen was exhausted to the extreme. He had not rested well for the past few days, and tonight, he was even more tense. He had
been in a highly tense state for a long time. At this moment, he suddenly relaxed. His body swayed, and he finally used up the
last bit of strength in his body and collapsed.
In the building opposite the hospital, a man in a suit was looking through a pair of binoculars.
Seeing Owen fall, the middle–aged man put down the binoculars and said calmly, “What a pity.”
