Pampered by my three brothers: the return of the neglected heiress

Chapter 1766

Chapter 1766: improvisation was now the new strategy

"It's... torture time!"

The moment those words left Penny's mouth, she got to work fast. Shawn stood nearby, watching as she tended to Brad's wounds with the speed of a medical- grade hurricane.

Despite how it sounded, "torture time" wasn't a joke.

She was treating Brad, but she wasn't using any anesthesia or pain relievers. If anything, she'd occasionally jab at his wounds and giggle just enough to make him groan and slip in and out of consciousness.

"Don't kill them."

Penny suddenly stopped and looked back at Shawn, wiggling her brows meaningfully.

"Just knock them out," she added. "I don't want to crash. We might need their expertise."

"Uh..." Shawn cleared his throat and nodded. "I'll be back."

"Mhm."

With that, Penny resumed her rather unorthodox treatment of Brad. Shawn, meanwhile, stood there for a moment, staring at her back. He exhaled, turned around, and slapped himself hard.

'That's right,' he told himself. 'We have to do this. We have to make it happen -I can't fail her this time.'

Because if they didn't, there might not be a next time.

With that steeling thought, Shawn marched toward the cockpit to confront the pilots. There were two inside, but that shouldn't be a problem.

He picked up Brad's rifle on the way and approached the cockpit.

The pilots still had their headsets on, muttering into their mics. Shawn waited until he was sure they were no longer on a live call. Then, he tapped one of them on the shoulder.

The pilot turned, only to be punched square in the nose. He reeled back, hands flying to his bleeding face.

"Ugh-!"

The second pilot turned, startled, only to freeze as the barrel of the rifle pressed to his temple.

"This chopper's mine now," Shawn growled. "Get out."

The pilot stared at him through his visor, then glanced at his injured co-pilot. In the next second, he reached for a nearby button to raise an emergency alarm to alert the people who need to know the current problem in this vehicle.

But alas-

BANG!

"Ack-!" he cried out as a bullet tore through his arm. Before he could scream, Shawn slammed the butt of the rifle into his jaw, then shot him in the leg to incapacitate him fully.

As the pilot slumped over, Shawn shoved the hot barrel of the rifle in the other pilot's face.

"Out. Don't make me repeat myself." He panted, his eyes burning. "This is not worth your life."

The co-pilot, nose bleeding freely, raised both hands. He didn't even try to resist. Shawn reached for the release latch and unstrapped the man freely.

"Get. Out. Now!" Shawn barked.

The pilot scrambled out of his seat, bleeding on the floor as he went.

"Now drag him out," Shawn ordered, motioning to the downed pilot.

The man obeyed, dragging his partner out of the cockpit. Blood smeared the floor as he went. He didn't say a word-he didn't need to.

Because they knew.

This was how people like them operated. They would open fire if they had to, because that was how the rules were.

And tonight, Shawn wasn't so different.

If Penny hadn't ordered him not to kill them, he wouldn't have bothered with all this. But she had. And Shawn... couldn't bring himself to betray her again.

So he kept the rifle aimed at them as the pilot dragged his partner toward Penny's area. Once they cleared of the cockpit, Shawn shouted again:

"Get down! Now!"

He pinned the bleeding pilot to the floor. But when he looked up, he froze.

Brad looked like a half-dead mummy. Penny had wrapped him head to toe in gauze even his mouth and one eye were sealed shut.

She turned and stared at the two new arrivals. One was under Shawn's knee, the other motionless.

"Is he dead?!" she gasped, eyes wide with disbelief. "Shawn! I told you not to kill them! Want to go to jail?"

"He's not dead," Shawn panted. "Not yet. But he's bleeding out."

Penny gasped louder, scooping up the medical kit and rushing to the injured pilot.

"Don't worry! I'll keep you alive!" she promised, tearing open his clothing around the wound. "Hold still-if you don't want to die!"

As she began treating him, everyone stared. Shawn. The pilot beneath him. Even Brad-whose one eye wasn't covered-just blinked.

They watched in stunned silence as Penny patched up the very people who were supposed to be the enemy.

Shawn exhaled, and a small smile crept onto his face. But before that smile could fully form, a resounding slap echoed in their ears.

SLAP!

The entire chopper echoed with the sound. Shawn flinched. Brad winced. Even

the broken-nosed co-pilot almost bit his tongue.

Penny had just slapped the pilot so hard that they felt it.

"I said, stop moving," she muttered darkly, then slapped him again as his eyes

rolled back. "And wake up! I said stop moving! Don't die on me!"

She alternated between taking out

the bullets and slapping the man awake, leaving the other three m watching her in stunned, slightly terrified silence. At this point, no one could tell whether she was saving the pilot... or killing him. The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest chapter there!

Finally, she wiped her forehead with the back of her arm and sighed in relief.

"Phew," she exhaled. "Uncle Haines would wring my neck if I caused too much

trouble for his future wife before their wedding."

She paused, then looked up at

Shawn, and then at the others, all of

whom were staring at her. She

blinked, tilted her head. Then slowly

"You're next?"

The co-pilot, despite the weight pinning him down, shook his head vigorously.

No, thank you. Let his nose stay broken!

"Well, I used up every last gauze, anyway," she said with a shrug, then

turned to Shawn. "Let's tie these guys En. up. I need to make a phone call." The content is on Novelxo.org! Read the latest chapter there!

After all, ever since this chaos started... no one outside knew that she and

Shawn had reached an agreement.

And if they didn't contact someone soon, no one would know the plan had changed and that improvisation was now the new strategy.
