Chapter 272
"Ms. Josie, I'm here for Ashley's file," said Thomas in a deep voice. He looked every bit a gentleman.
Josie sneered and threw all the documents and press releases on the table. "Take them and go."
Ashley took off her sunglasses and looked at Josie tauntingly. Her smile was even more confident than before. "I bet it never crossed your mind that I'll make a comeback, eh, Josie?"
"And here I thought there is finally justice. But no, it's actually humankind's worst disaster," said Josie calmly and with no expression.
Ashley gritted her teeth. "How can you still be arrogant, Josie? Henry has already filed for divorce. You lost!"
"A loser has no right to act so arrogantly," thought Ashley.
"Lost?" Josie smiled. "Do you seriously think I've lost just because Henry filed for a divorce? Oh wow, you're even shallower than I thought if you think that's the case." Ashley didn't take her words to heart and continued to brag, saying, "The man you love doesn't love you back. He loves me instead. It's only normal you would feel sad."
Josie didn't want to waste her breath arguing with Ashley. "She's crazy," she thought.
"Ashley, let's go." Thomas was afraid something bad would happen if they stayed too long. He quickly checked the files and was about to leave with Ashley when Josie opened her mouth.
"You really love her, huh, Thomas? Tell me was it worth breaking the law for her?" asked Josie with a smile.
Compared to before, Josie was able to deal with all sorts of matters more calmly.
Thomas froze and didn't say anything.
"How does it feel to treat somebody like a queen only for her to treat you like nothing?" continued Josie tauntingly.
Thomas remained silent.
"This guy is a lost cause," thought Josie.
"Josie, Henry is going to propose to me soon. You must come to our wedding," Ashley smiled.
Ashley definitely knew where Josie's sore point was-Josie had been married to Henry for so many years, yet Henry had kept their relationship hidden throughout the whole marriage. There wasn't even a wedding!
Josie didn't say anything. All she felt was a pity for Ashley.
"Don't worry. We'll even go to your funeral," said Samuel, who was leaning against the door frame, sarcastically.
Josie held back her smile and raised her eyebrows at Samuel.
Ashley's face turned red with anger, but she reminded herself that there was no need to fear Samuel now that she had Henry. "Mr. Turner, aren't you worried about tarnishing the Turner family's reputation by marrying a divorcee?"
"A marriage, whether it's a person's first or second, is protected by law, meaning the law recognizes the couple as husband and wife. But I'm sure you have no idea what I'm talking about since you prefer to get around. You should worry about your reputation instead, Ms. Long," retorted Samuel without skipping a beat.
Ashley's body stiffened. She lowered her head and left the place so quickly it looked as if she was running.
The video Spike's men were blackmailing her with would forever hang above her head like a sharp blade if she didn't come up with a solution soon.
"Hazel might be gone, but I'm still being blackmailed. I need to come up with something as soon as possible. I can't let those people continue to blackmail me with the video," thought Ashley.
Josie glanced at Samuel after watching how fast Ashley escaped. "Samuel, I wish I was half as good as you at making clap backs."
"I'll make sure to pass on that talent to our kids. But you don't need to learn it since I don't mind doing it on your behalf." Samuel laced his fingers with Josie's. "You don't have to take what Ashley said to heart."
"What did she say? I didn't hear anything," Josie smiled.
"Don't read or watch the news, either. The Clusia Media Group is making sure Ashley gets all the exposure possible so that she will definitely be all over the news. I don't want your mood to be affected." Samuel was preparing Josie in advance for the storm to come.
"I just think she's pathetic." Josie shook her head.
"And she's not aware of just how pathetic she is. She thought she got everything, but how can things obtained through despicable means last? She would find herself having lost everything in the end," thought Josie.
Meanwhile, all the members of Spike's gang had gathered for a celebration.
"Congratulations to Zachary for pulling off a successful deal. Zachary sure is one heck of a talented guy!" The members of the gang had accepted Zachary as one of them, which meant Zachary's infiltration into the gang was successful too.
"We're all brothers here," Zachary smiled politely.
"Here, catch this." Spike walked in through the door and threw a set of car keys to Zachary with a smile.
"Sorry, but this is just too expensive." Zachary rushed to where Spike was.
"It's yours. You deserve it. You've done well." Spike was satisfied with Zachary's
performance.
"Better than Silas at least," thought Spike.
Zachary smiled, "Thanks, then."
Spike didn't have dinner with the gang and left early.
Zachary sat aside, thinking.
He had successfully gained Spike's trust. There was no way he would let him off
when the next deal came around.
"Zachary, you hate that bitch Ashley, right?" A member came over mysteriously and threw an iPad at Zachary with a smile. "Well, we did you a favor."
Zachary tapped on the video, and his face darkened.
It was a video of Spike's men doing unspeakable things to Ashley.
Zachary took a deep breath and said nothing.
"Ashley brought this down on herself," thought Zachary.
"That hussy Ashley was quite a treat.
She's all over the news now that Henry is backing her up. Hey, she might get even more famous if we leak the video. Hahaha. Henry probably doesn't know how many men had been with Ashley already. So what if he's rich and powerful? His woman is a damaged good now." Content belongs to

Zachary frowned because he found the words particularly harsh.
It was a good thing that he knew there was nothing going on between Henry and
Ashley.
Zachary massaged his temple and smiled, "I'm a little tipsy and tired. Guess I'll head
to bed first."
Laughter erupted again after Zachary left the room. The conversations that night
were all about Ashley.
"Oh, hey, speak of the devil." The
leader of the group who blackmailed
e
Ashley received a message from Ashley-she was asking for a meet-up at the abandoned house in
the Resettlement Area. Content

He narrowed his eyes and laughed, for he knew why Ashley had asked for a meet-
up.
He was certain that she was going to beg him not to leak the video.
He didn't tell the other gang members about the meet-up because, this time, he
wanted her all for himself.
Meanwhile, in the basement located at Eastern Road, Sergio had been waiting for news about Hazel, but Henry never gave it to him.
For the past few days, his eyes had been twitching badly. It was difficult to quell the
panic in his heart.
"Is Hazel being held captive by Spike?" Sergio couldn't help but wonder.
"It should be fine even if she is. It's not like Spike will kill her. She's Henry's mother,
after all. He'll probably just rough her up a little."
By hook or by crook, Sergio would come up with a way to take her away.
The steel door opened, and in walked Henry.
"Where's Hazel?" Sergio asked nervously.
"Hazel hasn't fallen into Spike's hand," Henry answered in a deep voice.
Sergio breathed a sigh of relief. "She's safe," Sergio thought.
"But it's not good news. Something bad might have happened to her." Henry lit a
cigarette and threw it to Sergio.
"What... What do you mean?" Sergio's hand, the one that was holding the cigarette,
froze in midair.
"Is Spike really that depraved?" thought Sergio.
Henry didn't mention anything about
ne
Ashley. "The police found Hazel's necklace on the west side of the Resettlement Area. There were bloodstains on it, so now they're looking for her body instead. There's a high probability that she's dead." Content belongs to Novelxo.org
Sergio looked at Henry in shock. It took him a long while to snap out of it. "That's... That's impossible! Absolutely impossible!" Sergio was out of control.
